The Trust is pleased to announce that the team at Hill Holt Wood are now our Conservation Partners in the development of the Lancaster installation on the County border.
Hill Holt Wood is a Social Enterprise charity that does invaluable work in the community such as educating and training for young adults, many of whom have mental health issues. They actively manage the natural woodland close to Folly Lane as well as other sites further afield.
As part of their “Growing up Green” project, which seeks to educate young people how to look after our environment, the experts at Hill Holt Wood will manage the land around the Lancaster installation which will be planted as a wild-flower meadow (containing a fair few poppies!). Natural insect habitats will be provided, supplemented by dedicated insect “hotels” on the site which Hill Holt Wood will design and install.
The colourful meadow will be seen trailing behind the Lancaster in a long strip, 30m wide and more than 300m long.
