Lancaster bomber landmark honouring ‘British values’ pleads for fresh donations (gbnews.com)
The Bomber County Gateway Trust praise companies like Timmins Engineering for work on landmark Lancaster Bomber sculpture to be built on Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire border (newarkadvertiser.co.uk)
Former Mayor of Newark Mr. Laurence Goff has single-handedly raised £11,200 for us so we were happy to show him our progress so far and to make a presentation of one of our very limited-run framed prints. He is continuing his fund-raising and even planning a sky-dive for us !!
The very first Cor-Ten steel bits out of the workshops. These are the markings for the side of the aircraft structure “VN-N”. Special thanks to Stuart for the CAD work and to Dave and Mark for making this up in their lunch-breaks !! Equipment and facilities kindly provided by Hutchinson Engineering Ltd.
November 2023:
Grateful for our sponsor Barrett Steel Ltd. Certainly couldn’t create this landmark without the steel!
Essential work on site today to grout the bases of the stanchions. Many thanks to M&P Construction and Civils Ltd, of Eagle, Lincolnshire, for kindly doing this work for us for free!
We are grateful for the ongoing support from local businesses in our endeavour to complete ‘On Freedom’s Wings’.
October 2023:
Designing and building a 92 ton representation of a Lancaster Bomber perched 20m above the ground on slender legs on a windy hilltop in Lincolnshire takes the combined skill and world-class talent of Architects, Structural Engineers, Production Engineers and Fabricators (and lots of tea and biscuits!). Another intense production meeting for the next stage. Remember not one of these guys is being paid by us for his contribution !
August 2023:
ur fundraising team were at the annual open day at Remount Barracks, Melton Mowbray at the weekend by kind invitation of Squadron Leader Nigel Bostock of the Royal Veterinary Corps. A great day with the crowds treated to display by the Defence Animal Training Regiment, as well as marching bands and mounted troops.
Our volunteers worked hard to raise awareness of the project and collected £425.00 in donations on the day.
June 2023:
